Project A Title: ATI-PN Mental Health Exam
Is this the first, second or third year for this project?   3rd
Brief Project Description: At the end of the Nursing program, the students are given a national standardized test, and a subset of this exam tests therapeutic communication.  The subset of questions will give our faculty information on how our students compare to other students in the nation and also give information about their knowledge of the concept of therapeutic communication.
Assessment Tool(s)Used: ATI –PN Mental Health, 2011 version Subscale Psychosocial Integrity/Therapeutic Communication
Success Standard:  70% of students will score a 66% or higher on the subscale of questions (Note- due to the difficulty of the questions, 66% is on par with the national mean proficiency.)  Item analysis is not available due to security established by the testing company ATI.

Project B TitleTherapeutic Communication Final Examination Questions
Is this the first, second or third year for this project?   3rd
Brief Project Description: On the final exam for the NURP 100, Fundamentals of Nursing course, five questions have been chosen to assess the students’ ability to identify basic components of therapeutic communication and to choose appropriate examples of therapeutic communication in a written situation.
Assessment Tool(s)Used: The PN nursing faculty have chosen five questions from the nursing content of therapeutic communication to assess the students’ ability to apply the theory of therapeutic communication on written questions. 
Success Standard:  70% of the students will score 75% or higher on this subscale of questions. Item analysis will be done to evaluate for specific areas of concerns and weaknesses.

Project A Title: Health Education Final Exam Questions

Brief Project Description: On the final exam for the NURP 100, Fundamentals of Nursing course, four questions have been chosen that will assess the students’ knowledge of the concepts related to Health Education. 
Assessment Tool(s)Used: The PN faculty have chosen four test questions from the nursing content of health education to be used on the course final exam.
Success Standard:  70% of the students will score a 75% or higher on this subscale of questions. Item analysis will be done to evaluate for specific areas of concerns and weaknesses.

Project B TitleMedication Teaching Poster
Is this the first, second or third year for this project?   3rd
Brief Project Description: Each PN nursing student, while enrolled in the NURP 155 class, will complete a teaching poster assigned in their class.  They will also present their poster to a group of geriatric patients.
Assessment Tool(s)Used: A rubric will be used to evaluate the Geriatric client medication teaching poster.
Success Standard:  80% of students will score a 75% or higher on the grading rubric for their respective poster. Results will be broken down to see which categories of the rubric the students scored the strongest and the weakest.
