Social Work

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Social Work program is to introduce students to the social work profession and its core values, to foster the desire to help disenfranchised people, to teach generalist practice skills, and to prepare them to successfully transfer to an accredited bachelor of social work program, through active learning, student-centered and experiential activities.
Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete course work in the Social Work program will be able to:                

  • apply the NASW Code of Ethics to practice situations.  
  • demonstrate proficiency using APA style for professional writing. 
  • comprehend quantitative and qualitative research to build knowledge of human behavior and development.
  • apply micro-level and macro-level social work interventions that advance the social and economic well-being of disenfranchised people.
  • apply critical thinking to inform and communicate professional judgments.
