Pharmacy Technician

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Pharmacy Technician program is to prepare students to enter the workforce as pharmacy technicians in pharmacies and hospitals.  They will learn to work collaboratively to solve practical problems in the laboratory and apply theoretical concepts learned in the classroom.  Students who earn an AAS degree will be competent in basic science, business, and general education in addition to the pharmacy technician content.  Students will obtain an Indiana Pharmacy Technician license and be prepared to pass the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination. 

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete course work in the Pharmacy Technician program will be able to:

  • demonstrate prescription receiving and verification process.
  • prepare medication for clients through mixing, counting pills, and labeling bottles.
  • demonstrate inventory and stocking skills.
  • prepare I.V. mixtures, ointments and creams.
  • demonstrate proper drug dispensing techniques.
  • apply mathematics concepts for dosage calculation.
