Modern Foreign Languages

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Modern Foreign Languages program is to equip students with language skills and cultural knowledge to communicate in the target language and culture at a level appropriate for the needs of the students.  Courses in language, literature, culture, basic conversation, and occupationally specific conversation provide students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to develop an appropriate level of communicative competency in the target language and culture.  Upon graduation students will be able to transfer to a four-year institution to continue to hone their proficiency in the language they are studying.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  • demonstrate communicative competence in listening to, reading, speaking, and writing the target language.
  • demonstrate accuracy in pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.
  • apply cultural knowledge to facilitate communication with native speakers.
