Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Nursing Department is to prepare graduates who can function with competency in order to plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care of individuals or groups of clients in a variety of settings.  These settings include, but are not limited to acute care, long-term care, public health, and community health settings.  By providing majors with didactice, college laboratory, and clnical laboratory learning experiences; the Department serves students seeking Practical Nurse Certificate, Associate of Science Degree in Nursing, and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.  The Deparment allows for articulation between the PN certificate and ASN degree and between the ASN degree and BSN degree.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete the RN-BSN program will be able to:

  • demonstrate critical thinking and intellectual curiosity in order to provide holistic care to a variety of clients.
  • provide leadership through communication with clients and the interdisciplinary team for the purpose of positively affecting health care outcomes.
  • demonstrate caring through a holistic approach to client care.
  • facilitate community, acute care, preventative care, and public health education to achieve optimal levels of wellness for the client.
  • practice within an ethical framework that adheres to legal guidelines, promotes a positive public image of nursing, and participates in the change process to shape health care policy. 
  • utilize current research to provide client care and pursue lifelong learning to maintain professional growth.
