Health Information Management

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Health Information Management program is to prepare students to become successful, entry-level health information management professionals and develop attitudes which encourage growth in the ever changing health care environment.  Health information lecture, course work, laboratory, and field experience fosters the learning of the competencies necessary to work in a multitude of settings throughout the healthcare industry.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete course work in the Health Information Management program will be able to:

  • apply in-class learning in a clinical setting.
  • apply knowledge of coding diagnoses and procedures.
  • utilize computer information systems efficiently and correctly to perform HIM related tasks.
  • solve ethical problems using computer information systems within the HIM setting.
  • create solutions for real world situations.
  • apply knowledge of calculation and use of critical healthcare statistics.
