Hotel Management

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Hotel Management program is to prepare students from all backgrounds for successful employment in the hospitality industry as management trainees, front desk managers, or night auditors.  Through course work and lab work and community involvement, students will learn customer service, leadership, industry terminology, cost controls, and operations management.  The program offers opportunities for students to gain certifications from the American Hotel and Lodging Association and the National Restaurant Association which display technical proficiency in a variety of industry areas. 

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete course work in the Hotel Management program will be able to:   

  • show knowledge of food service measurements and recipe conversions.
  • use supervisory methods.
  • apply knowledge of budgeting and forecasting.
  • specify facility security techniques.
  • apply knowledge of hotel industry terminology.
  • demonstrate knowledge of legal hiring practices.
