Administrative Office Technology

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Administrative Office Technology program is to prepare students from diverse backgrounds for employment in the medical, legal, or general office environment.  Students will learn foundational concepts, techniques, and skills of professionally answering the telephone, utilizing written, face-to-face, and oral communications involving co-workers, customers, clients, and/or patients.  Students will master these skills and techniques through a combination of roll playing, simulations, lab practice, class discussion, dinnerviews, individual speeches, and group presentations.  Students will integrate all of these skills and characteristics to become a valued member of today’s dynamic office environment. 

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete course work in the Administrative Office Technology program will be able to:

  • apply appropriate telephone etiquette.
  • apply Office 2013 Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) software to complete office documents.
  • organize various filing systems of the company.
  • value a professional dress and attitude.
  • create appropriate business communication responses in error-free typed documents.
