Honors

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Honors Program is to cultivate high academic profile students with diverse majors who analyze, understand, appreciate, and reflect upon the role of the individual in his/her culture from past to present.  As members of a learning community, students will examine aesthetics, philosophy, history, and sociology in order to construct meaning for themselves and a broader audience.  Through a broad range of interdisciplinary courses, the Honors Program prepares students for transfer, career, and lifelong learning.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete course work in the Honors Program will be able to:

  • engage in articulate expression based upon critical reading/analysis of a text.
  • engage in articulate expression through written, oral, and digital communication.
  • solve problems using critical and creative thinking skills.
  • integrate knowledge and perspectives of different disciplines.
  • make ethically and aesthetically informed judgments.
  • appreciate the diversity as well as commonality of human values, beliefs, and behaviors.
