Collision Repair and Refinishing

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Collision Repair and Refinishing program is to prepare students for successful employment within the collision repair industry.  Through intensive course work, laboratory experiences, the use of specialized tools and service information systems, students develop critical diagnostic repair skills.  Students will also have the opportunity to attain a Baccalaureate degree and or Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete course work in the Collision Repair and Refinishing program will be able to:

  • inspect automotive systems to identify damaged components and body panels.
  • perform automotive repairs in order to return damaged vehicles to “Pre-Accident Condition.”
  • perform automotive repairs using proper equipment and tool techniques.
  • value professionalism.
  • understand automotive repair terminology.
  • demonstrate communication and critical thinking skills.
  • understand the overall operation and costs involved in operating a collision repair & refinishing facility.
  • analyze and identify full frame damage and unitized frame damage.
